Service Description: This data refers to the vector data showing the percentage of healthcare services (hospitals) per NUTS2 region that are located within potential flood-prone areas in EU27 countries in 2021. This dataset provides an European overivew of the percentage of hospitals that may be at risk of flooding and emphasises the need to adapt.
The data is included in the European Climate and Health Observatory: https://climate-adapt.eea.europa.eu/observatory. The European Climate and Health Observatory platform provides easy access to a wide range of relevant publications, tools, websites and other resources related to climate change and human health.

The point data on educational facilities (Eurostat) that are located within GISCO NUTS 2021 level 2 region boundaries (Eurosat) was intersected with the extent of potential flood-prone areas (EEA). The number of educational facilities within the extent of flood prone areas was divided by the total number of educational facilities within NUTS2 region boundaries to calculate the percentage.
The "EEA potential flood-prone area extent, Jan. 2020" delineates the area that is flooded once every 100 years, i.e. the probability of flooding is 1% assuming that flooding is unrestricted.
