Service Description: This metadata refers to the vector data showing the percentage of healthcare services (hospitals) per city that are located within the potential flood-prone areas in EU27 member countries, Norway and Switzerland in 2021. This dataset provides an European overivew of the percentage of hospitals in cities that may be at risk of flooding and emphasises the need to adapt.
The data is included in the European Climate and Health Observatory: https://climate-adapt.eea.europa.eu/observatory. The European Climate and Health Observatory platform provides easy access to a wide range of relevant publications, tools, websites and other resources related to climate change and human health.

Lineage
The point data on educational facilities that can be downloded from the Eurostat repository (see: https://gisco-services.ec.europa.eu/pub/education/) was intersected with the EEA potential flood-prone area extent, Jan. 2020 (https://sdi.eea.europa.eu/catalogue/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/28c36420-c31b-440e-80c5-8064696f3517)
The number of educational facilities within the extent of flood prone areas was divided by the total number of educational facilities within the (1:1 mill) Urban Audit 2020 city boundaries (Eurostat: https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/gisco/geodata/reference-data/administrative-units-statistical-units/urban-audit) to calculate the percentage.
